ANDANDO EL CAMINO CON LOS PEREGRINOS
Compartiendo con los Peregrinos.
Año con año la tradición de apadrinar carretas se fortalece en nuestro Puerto. Este año contamos en San Juan del Sur con una cantidad de 49 Padrinos de Carretas Peregrinas. Muchos se preguntaran en que consiste Apadrinar y esto no es mas que ayudar a los peregrinos que salen de sus casas y viajan por mas de tres días en carretas forradas de hojas, zacate o paja, los cuales tienen un objetivo en común pagar las promesas realizadas por algún milagro en particular a Jesús del Rescate, el cual se encuentra ubicado en el Santuario Popoyoapa, (Rivas). En las carretas viajan familias y está compuesta por jóvenes, niños y adultos y a veces hasta ancianos, casi todas traen una cantidad de 8 personas.
Estos peregrinos salen de poblaciones como: Granada, Masaya, Nandaime, Los Encuentros, San José de Gracia, Niquinohomo, entre otros.
La ayuda que se le lleva es una canasta con víveres, tales como azúcar, arroz, aceite, café, pinolillo, caramelos, baterías para focos y otro, además se les prepara un cena para compartir con ellos esta tarde de domingo en las cercanías del puente Gil González.
San Juan del Sur, este año será representada por 49 padrinos, los cuales son familias o empresas que muy gratamente cumplen con Apadrinar y sobre todo pasar este domingo 10 de abril un rato bonito con sus ahijados. Se reunirán a las 1 de la tarde en la Plaza de La Familia la cual está ubicada contigua a la Iglesia San Juan Bautista para recibir la bendición de parte de nuestros Sacerdotes, luego saldrán en caravana.

Year after year the tradition of our port town sponsoring carts is strengthened. This year, the 49 Godfathers of the Pilgrim Carts in San Juan del Sur are thinking about the sponsors needed to help the pilgrims who leave their homes and travel for more than three days in carts lined with leaves, grass or straw. They have a common goal; to honor the promises made by the miracle of Jesús del Rescate at a service in the Sanctuary Popoyoapa (Rivas). Families traveling on the carts are comprised of the young, children and adults and sometimes also the elderly; almost all carts total 8 people.
These pilgrims come from towns such as: Granada, Masaya, Nandaime, Los Encuentros, San José de Gracia and Niquinohomo among others.
They seek aid by way of a basket of food, such as sugar, rice, oil, coffee, cornmeal, candy, batteries for flashlights and other donations. They are also preparing a dinner to share with the pilgrims this Sunday afternoon near the Gil González Bridge as they travel on their way.
San Juan del Sur, this year will be represented by 49 sponsors, who are families or companies that will meet and spend time together this Sunday 10th April. They will meet at 1 pm in the Plaza de la Familia which is located next to the Iglesia San Juan Bautista to receive the blessing from our Priests, then travel out in convoy.
