Welcome back for the 2014 – 2015 school year at Saginaw High School. I am so excited that the school year has begun and I hope you are excited as well. I can’t wait to begin the journey through the rich history and culture that the study of Spanish literature provides.
Bienvenidos al año escolar de 2014 - 2015. Me alegra de que el año escolar haya empezado y ojalá que se emocionen ustedes, también. No puedo esperar para empezar el viaje por la historia y cultura rica que provee el estudio de literatura española.
What can you expect in this course?
¿Qué pueden anticipar ustedes en este curso?
AP Spanish 5 is an advanced level course that requires the development of analytical skills for interpretation of the various written and audio selections, interpersonal communication skills for group collaboration and class discussion, and analytical writing skills for analysis or comparison of works in short responses and essays. By early spring, students will be expected to have read each selection from the entire list of AP works which includes a minimum of 38 works of theater, poetry, short stories, and novels. Additional written sources will be used for comparison with the required reading works. In order to be successful in this class, the students will need to read at home daily including weekends and to keep a journal with information about the author, the literary terms and elements, the theme, the characters, and the historical time period of each work.

La clase avanzada de español AP 5 es un curso avanzado que requiere el desarrollo de destrezas analíticas para la interpretación de varias selecciones escritas y auditivas, destrezas comunicativas para colaboración entre grupos y el discurso de la clase, y destrezas analíticas de escritura para el análisis o la comparación de las obras en repuestas breves y en los ensayos. Antes de la primera parte de primavera, es una expectativa que los estudiantes hayan leído la entera lista requerida de obras de AP la cual incluye un mínimo de 38 obras de teatro, poesía, cuentos, y novelas. También, otros recursos escritos serán usados para hacer comparaciones con las obras requeridas. Para tener éxito en esta clase, los estudiantes necesitan leer en casa cotidiana mente incluso los fines de semana, mantener un diario con información sobre el autor, los términos y elementos literarios, el tema, los personajes, y la época histórica de cada obra.

  • Turn in work by the due date. Entreguen la tarea en la fecha debida.

  • Speak, read, write and listen to information in Spanish. Hablen, lean, escriban y escuchen información en español.

  • Communicate in Spanish including by means of a computer. Comuniquen en español incluso por medio de la computadora.

  • Read assigned reading selections prior to arriving to the class. Lean selecciones de lectura asignadas antes de llegar a clase.

There are at least two internet accounts with passwords available for students to take quizzes, tests, and to do daily practice with feedback.
